SGBC Industry Course: Hands-On Training with the Building Embodied Carbon Calculator (BECC)

The quantification of carbon is key for building project stakeholders to identify carbon hotspots, and be able to take necessary action to minimise carbon emissions by identifying alternative low-carbon solutions to achieve their decarbonisation goals.

In collaboration with BCA, JTC and NUS-ESI, SGBC has co-developed a unified Building Embodied Carbon Calculator (BECC). The BECC provides the industry with a unified tool to make informed decisions on material and product selections to reduce the carbon footprint of projects for use under the Sustainable Construction section of the Code for Environmental Sustainability of Buildings (Edition 4.0) and the Green Mark 2021 Whole Life Carbon badge.

At this training course, attendees will gain hands-on experience using the Building Embodied Carbon Calculator (BECC) to quantify the carbon emissions of a real-world building project, equipping them with practical skills to assess embodied carbon emissions. By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

• Understand whole life carbon and the drivers and tools available for carbon calculation
• Utilise the Building Embodied Carbon Calculator (BECC)
