Certified Facilities Management Expert (CFME)
This Certified FM Expert (CFME) scheme is a professional accreditation that recognise practitioners in the facilities management domain. It is awarded by the Singapore International Facility Management Association (SIFMA), the assessment body that validates the knowledge, skills and competencies required as an experienced Facilities Management Expert (FME).
There are a total of six tiers to the Certified FM Expert accreditation scheme to be introduced in two phases:
Phase 1 will be introduced in December 2021 and Phase 2 to be introduced in 2024.
WHAT IS A CERTIFIED FM EXPERT?
A Certified FM Expert is an individual who has been assessed to have the requisite skill sets and competences that meet or exceed the national/industry standards and quality of a FM practitioner.
The accreditation is divided into the degree and non-degree pathways. Tier 1 to 3 requires a minimum Diploma in Built Environment (BE)-related qualification, while Tier 4 requires a minimum 'N' level qualification to qualify for the accreditation scheme.
RENEWAL OF ACCREDITATION STATUS
The accreditation schemes are valid for a period of two years and must be renewed every two years for the accreditation status to remain accredited. For renewal, CFME must acquire the required Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points. Tier 1 to 3 requires 15 CPD points per year, while Tier 4 requires 8 CPD points per year. Renewal fee applies.

APPLICATION CRITERIA
Tiers 1 and 2 would require the submission of a report and the completion of an interview panel with the accreditation committee's assigned assessors. The report submission and interview would be used to assess the CFME applicant's understanding of the required competencies:
Tiers 3 and 4 would require the completion of a report and a MCQ assessment. The report submission and MCQ assessment would be used to assess the CFME applicant's understanding of the required competencies.
