SGBC Industry Course: Hands-On Training with the Mechanical & Electrical Carbon Calculator (MECC)

The quantification of carbon is key for building project stakeholders to identify carbon hotspots, and be able to take necessary action to minimise carbon emissions by identifying alternative low-carbon solutions to achieve their decarbonisation goals. In collaboration with BCA, JTC and NUS-ESI, SGBC has co-developed a unified Singapore Building Carbon Calculator (SBCC), which comprises of both the Building Embodied Carbon Calculator (BECC) and the Mechanical & Electrical Carbon Calculator (MECC).

The MECC provides the industry with a unified tool to make informed decisions on material and product selections, especially for Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing products, to reduce the carbon footprint of projects. 

At this training course, attendees will gain hands-on experience using the MECC to quantify the carbon emissions of a real-world building project, equipping them with practical skills to assess embodied carbon emissions. By the end of the course, participants will be able to: 

• Understand whole life carbon and the drivers and tools available for carbon calculation 
• Utilise the Mechanical & Electrical Carbon Calculator (MECC) for building projects
